Sathuranga Vettai 2, the long-delayed sequel starring Arvind Swamy and Trisha, appears to be edging closer to a theatrical release following a significant development. Theatre owner and distributor Tiruppur Subramaniam reportedly took up the matter with financier Madurai Anbuchezhiyan, who agreed to let the film release without demanding immediate payment. "I do not want any money now. Let the film release first, and my share can be settled later from the revenue," Anbuchezhiyan is reported to have said.

Directed by NV Nirmal Kumar and based on a story by H Vinoth — who directed the 2014 original — the sequel was shot between 2016 and 2017 and has remained unreleased for nearly a decade. The cast includes the late Daniel Balaji, Nassar, Radharavi, Dheeraj Rathnam and others. The development also carries emotional weight given that producer-actor Manobala, who passed away in 2023, had persistently worked towards ensuring the film reached audiences.

If the latest developments materialise, the release would arrive a decade after production was completed.
