Rashmika Mandanna will play Bharat Ratna Carnatic legend M.S. Subbulakshmi in MS: A Legacy On Screen. The biopic was officially launched on the singer’s 110th birth anniversary, with Kamal Haasan giving the first clap. Mani Ratnam was among those present.

Gowtam Tinnanuri (Jersey) directs; Anirudh Ravichander scores. At the launch, Rashmika spoke of gratitude toward “Amma,” saying she hears a divine power in the voice and promising to give her best. Kamal called M.S. a uniting force through music across languages, and compared the pressure of the role to portraying Michael Jackson — adding that the compassion in her eyes would win half the battle.

Makers Geetha Arts, Rockline Entertainment and Bunny Vas Works are backing the film. Wider cast and crew details are still awaited.
