Suriya and Jyotika have renewed their wedding vows in an intimate ceremony with family and friends, marking 20 years of marriage. Jyotika called it “THE SEQUEL” — a celebration of two decades of “love and war.”

They first shared screen space in Poovellam Kettuppar (1999). Friendship deepened later; love reportedly took shape during Kaakha Kaakha (2003), after Jyotika had recommended Suriya to Gautham Menon following Nandha. They played a married couple in Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, which released just three days before their real wedding on 11 September 2006.

Jyotika has said Suriya’s respect on set was central to her deciding to marry him. After a break raising Diya and Dev, she returned with 36 Vayadhinile; the couple also produce together under 2D Entertainment. A cinematic loop: met on a set, fell in love on a set, now a vow “sequel” two decades on.
