Google India, the search engine platform widely used by internet users have officially revealed that among the top trending searches for movies in the year 2021, two Tamil films hold a spot in the Top 10. Vijay Sethupathi lead Maharaja, which is a crime thriller that shook the Indian cine audience this year is at No: 6 of the most googled movies. 

Actor, politician Vijay's penultimate film The Greatest Of All Time aka The GOAT is at No: 8 of the top trending searched list of Google India. Three Hindi language aka Bollywood movies, Stree 2 (Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkumar Rao), 12th Fail (Vikrant Massey film released October 2023), and the Aamir Khan produced Laapata Ladies directed by his ex-wife Kiran Rao also find their spot in this top 10.

Telugu movies were not behind with the sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD (Prabhas, Deepika Padukone), Hanu-Man (Teja Sajja), and Salaar: Part 1 Ceasefire (released December 2023) taking the No: 2, No: 5, and No: 9 spots respectively. 

Malayalam films Manjummel Boys, Soubin Shahir's hit survival thriller, and Aavesham, the Fahadh Faasil lead action comedy were also among the most googled movies in India 2024.
