Thalaivar 173: Rajinikanth Rumoured to Play a Doctor in Ashwath Marimuthu's Film

Speculation surrounding Rajinikanth's Thalaivar 173 continues to gather momentum, with fresh reports now hinting at the superstar playing a doctor in the film, which is widely believed to be directed by Ashwath Marimuthu.

According to sources, a look test photoshoot for the project was recently conducted in Chennai, with noted photographer G Venkat Ram reportedly capturing the images at the Raaj Kamal Films International office. Rajinikanth is said to have appeared in a doctor's attire, complete with a stethoscope, sparking rumours about the nature of his role.

If the reports turn out to be true, it would mark the first time Rajinikanth plays a full-fledged medical practitioner on screen. While he has portrayed a psychologist in Chandramukhi, he has never headlined a film as a doctor.

There is also speculation that the story could draw inspiration from real-life doctors known for serving the public at affordable costs, including the popularly known "Rs 5 doctor". However, the makers have remained tight-lipped about the plot and character details.

Sources further suggest that the film is expected to go on floors on June 26, with elaborate sets currently being erected at Sundar Studios in Poonamallee. Rumours are also rife that actor-director Mysskin, who previously worked with Ashwath Marimuthu in Dragon, could be part of the cast.

While Raaj Kamal Films International is yet to officially confirm Ashwath Marimuthu as the director, recent social media activity from the banner has only strengthened industry buzz surrounding the collaboration. An official announcement on the cast, crew and storyline is expected soon.
