Premise: GV Prakash Kumar works in a printing press, he gets a call from Kayadu Lohar to share an apartment when he was looking for one. Eventually after moving in, GV finds Kayadu’s lifestyle so mysterious. Turns out she is a vampire and how the protagonist escapes from the trap forms the remaining story.

Writing/ Direction: The subject opens on the lines of Ambuli, post which it travels on GV Prakash’s point-of-view. There is no real characterization for him as such, his purpose is revealed only in the later stages of the film. How he enters Kayadu Lohar’s life is quite convincing, but the happenings are too open and make it predictable instead of hooking the audience in creating curiosity. The film feels so empty with very minimal artists. Take Lokah for example, there was a thin vampire story and how the ensemble star-cast deals with the central character made it exciting. But here, there are only two main actors, the situations are so repetitive and there is barely any writing. T.M.Karthik has played a supporting role, but how he enters the primary locality of the story is very similar to how GV Prakash enters, there is no creativity in the subject that requires it so badly. The story doesn’t progress at all till the interval, there is no surprise in the big reveal as it is something most viewers would have guessed early on. The portions involving the monstrous creature look so silly, what could have been extraordinary doesn’t even get an ordinary output. The reasoning of Kayadu Lohar desiring for GV Prakash is unacceptable. Even after discovering the vampire world in the second half, not even a single scene is engaging. The overall story has very less substance and it feels like a short film is stretched out for two hours.

Performances: There is scope for GV Prakash Kumar to act as he needs to express fear, and he clearly struggles to do so. It is very unfortunate that even after being an actor for a decade now, he finds it tough to pull-off even the simplest of roles. Kayadu Lohar looks like a sensuous doll, her role is a tricky lustful one in the first half and a serious one in the latter, she has carried herself gracefully. Lollu Sabha Maaran and Adithya Kathir appear in a few scenes, but their comedy doesn't work at any point due to lack of potential situations.

Technicalities: Songs are not impressive with lame lyrics. Sam.C.S’ has tried his level-best to uplift the mood of the film with his background score, a bit loud but still it is one of the better aspects of the movie. Weak cinematography, the basic closeup shots are badly composed, with nonsensical angles showcasing the heroine, poor visual effects on top of that. No improvement at the edit table as well, the narrative is plain and bland, also there are plenty of lags in the screenplay.

Verdict: The writing is so generic, the intention is to make a survival thriller, but the treatment doesn’t get the due points. A wafer-thin subject like this could have at least been packaged with an ample set of artists, the film feels empty with just the two leads, their characters are also not developed well.

IMMORTAL - Goes on and on as the title suggests, without any interesting elements.
