In a moment he described as a "blessing," director Karthik Subbaraj has revealed that legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja will be scoring the music for his upcoming tenth film — marking the Maestro's 1540th project as a composer during his golden jubilee year.

Karthik unveiled a heartwarming video showing Ilaiyaraaja greeting the director and producer Guneet Monga, playing tunes on his harmonium, and guiding the team with his musical instructions. In a touching gesture, the Maestro also gifted Karthik a signed guitar. "From growing up with his music to working with him. Karthik Subbaraj joins with Maestro Ilaiyaraaja," read the description of the video.

The yet-to-be-titled film is Karthik's collaboration with Guneet Monga and Achin Jain's Sikhya Entertainment, with Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios and Dhammam Films also backing the project. Production commenced in Madurai with a pooja ceremony in November 2025. Cast, crew, and plot details are yet to be revealed.

Karthik Subbaraj last directed Retro with Suriya and Pooja Hegde. He recently produced the critically acclaimed Neelira alongside Rana Daggubati and co-produced Rathna Kumar's 29 with Lokesh Kanagaraj's G Squad.
