House Mates - A family horror comedy releasing on August 1, 2025

Produced by actor Sivakarthikeyan, and S. Vijayaprakash under the banners Sivakarthikeyan Productions, Play Smith Studios, and South Studios, House Mates starring Darshan, and Aarsha Chandini Baiju in the lead is an upcoming horror comedy drama that is all set to release in theaters on August 1, 2025.

House Mates is written and directed by Rajavel, who has previously assisted Demonte Colony (2015) fame Ajay Gnanamuthu, and was part of the writing team on that horror film. House Mates follows the story of two families as they try to uncover the reasons for strange paranormal encounters they experience in their respective homes. How these events are connected, and how the families come together to solve the mystery is what forms the rest of the movie.

"House Mates is not your usual horror film. The main plot point arises out of the disagreement between two neighbours. I play a character who just moves in with his wife with a lot of dreams. When the lead thinks that...life will be a breeze, it gets messy.

House Mates will not have disturbing levels of horror elements, but it will blend in humour and fantasy. I have a strong feeling that House Mates will be enjoyed by families." - Actor Darshan in an interview

Darshan has previously worked with Sivakarthikeyan in Rajinimurugan (2016), and House Mates is Darshan's second film with Sivakarthikeyan Productions after Kanaa (2018). Darshan reunites with his Thumbaa (2019) co-star Dheena, promising to bring back their comedic combo on House Mates.

While Darshan and Aarsha Baiju play a couple, the other central family of House Mates is played by actors Kaali Venkat, Vinodhini Vaidynathan, and their onscreen son. A clean U movie, House Mates comes with a runtime of 2 hours and 9 minutes.

The technical crew of House Mates includes Rajesh Murugesan for music, M.S. Sathish for cinematography, A. Nishar Sharef for edits, N.K. Rahul for art, Dinesh Kasi for stunts, Azar for choreography, Nandhini Nedumaran for costume design, and Bee Studios for VFX.
