Tourist Family Music Review - A commendable soundtrack by Sean Roldan
Ramesh Kannan
Aachaley:
Aachaley is a conventional techno-infused composition, enhanced by Bala's distinctive incorporation of quirky Nadaswaram elements. The song is performed by Sean Roldan, whose vocals add charm to the track, making it sufficiently catchy to sustain the listener's interest till it ends.
Vaazhndu Paar:
The serene tone of Vaazhndu Paar is beautifully enhanced by the bass guitar work of Aalap Raju and skillful guitar strums by Vivekkanand. SP Charan lends a delightful retro charm to the composition, further elevating its appeal when the charanam's melody goes as "Odam Orunaal" and ends with the title phrase.
Iragae:
Iragae is available in two versions: the main one sung by Vijay Yesudas and a reprise version by Venkatramanan. The song is more of a continuation of Thaensudare from Sean's previous year's album Lover, particularly in the anallavi sections when Mohan Rajan's lyrics go as, "Thodakkam Thodakkam Illai." Sean's arrangements prominently feature exquisite string sections by Rithu Vysakh and are enriched with the composer's own vocal harmonies. The reprise version leans on keys with slightly softer vocals and improvisations by Venkatramanan. Sean retains the stunning string sections in the interludes for the reprise version, though smoother transitions between the strings and keys would have enhanced the arrangement further.
Mugai Mazhai:
Sean Roldan captivates with a stunning melody and his signature style throughout the track. His vocals enhance the piece effectively, well complemented by Saindhavi's support. The composer incorporates the unique and quirky Ru Tu Tu sounds and contributions of the Indian Choral Ensemble in the arrangements significantly elevate the track's appeal.
Manamae:
Sean Roldan collaborates once again with the Choral Ensemble for the piece Maname, but the effort yields limited success Despite the sincere performance by Manoj Krishna and Sean Roldan the track fails captivate the audience effectively.
Ore Vaanam:
Ore Vaanam also suffers from a middling tune, similar to Maname, but this is compensated by the superior arrangements, primarily due to Bala's Nadaswaram segments and vocal harmonies. Yuvan Shankar Raja delivers a commendable performance in terms of vocals, with support from Meha Agarwal.
Verdict: A commendable soundtrack by Sean Roldan, characterized by the composer's signature style sounds, with a couple of standout melodies.
