Mohanlal's L2: Empuraan Premieres on Jio Hotstar Tonight

Mohanlal’s political action thriller L2: Empuraan will begin streaming on Jio Hotstar from April 24, 2025.

Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and written by Murali Gopy, the film was released in theatres on March 27 and grossed around Rs 325 crore. It was released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.

Mohanlal returns as Stephen Nedumpally in a story set against Kerala’s turbulent political backdrop. Tovino Thomas plays a disgraced Chief Minister, whose downfall triggers the events of the film.

Empuraan stirred controversy for its depiction of the 2002 Gujarat riots, leading to a re-censored version for streaming. Jio Hotstar secured the digital and satellite rights for around Rs 60–70 crore.
